Johann stands in their kitchen as he watches the sun fade in the window, his arms folded across his chest. He lifts the cat onto his shoulder so she can see, as well. "First night alone," he breathes out, mostly to the cat. "What the fuck are we supposed to do? Shall we go out? Find people to terrorize?"
He rushes forward at those words, like Florian's released him from his spell, and all but trips over his feet to meet him in a desperate kiss, pushing off his jacket.
And Johann has never felt Florian grip him back with such fierceness, the fragility of his appearance shown to be a ploy as the flesh is perfect marble beneath his hands. Florian is going to climb him like a tree before he starts tugging clothing off of him without further ado.
There's a small indentation from where Johann had collapsed, face first, on the bed the first time and napped there for a few moments. The blankets are pulled completely off and he spends the next while simply...enjoying him. Loudly. Roughly. He digs fingers into the bedframe, funnels every bit of his magic into relevant parts of himself that could stand the extra boost.
He doesn't know how long it's been for Florian, but he's determined to keep up with him in this new body. This new, less fragile, spot. Johann worships him, every part of him, exploring every new perk. And when he's finally exhausted, he wraps himself around Florian gleefully, nuzzling into his neck.
And he will lay his head against Johann's chest, let himself close his eyes to relax and enjoy the steady, comforting beat of his heart even if his own is stilled.
"I am glad to be home," he says quietly, earnestly, and he breathes in and out a few times, not because he needs to but because he's trying to find words.
"The time apart has... worn on me more than I realized."
He threads his fingers through Florian's hair, feeling complete but feeling the weight of Florian's loss, too. The price of redemption, the price of being less selfish and more in tune with him means that he can sense it here.
"Tell me," he murmurs and maybe it's the exhaustion, but he's ready to listen patiently.
He is ready to listen. He will expect patience when they are both dead, namely at the end of the Universe itself.
"When I left," he says tiredly, "Blitzø had not returned, Trevor had demoted himself and was only just now starting to stir from a deep depression which I have no faith in his useless warden to handle, Sebastian's master had shown up, only to disappear for just long enough to turn Sebastian into a raging idiot, your fool of a brother graduated another nitwit back into the land of the living, and we had a rash of disappearances and upsets that had them practically clinging at my ankles with their nails for me not go to even for a visit."
A breath out.
"This is a visit. Thrawn is graduated, but my loose ends are hardly tied. I won't graduate another, that I swear, but I have a brother of my own, as you recall. Among other concerns."
He was prepared for the news of Blitzø, of Trevor. He spoke with Sebastian. He isn't entirely surprised. He has made peace, his chest aching with the loss but...what else is new? As long as he has Florian, then all is well.
"You like it when I look like this. It gives you something to bitch about."
"I don't like it, nitwit," he huffs, "that's why I complain."
But he's not moving anywhere away from Johann. He lets his eyes close.
"There are two major matters I wish I need to talk to you about: the first is my species, which I do see you enjoy, but which has some drawbacks... and the other is a more personal problem."
He nods, sitting up. "Tell me about your species, then. Personal problems
later." And he needs to eat or he will fall asleep far too early.
"But I don't fucking have a say in what you want to be. At the end of it
all, it's your form." Not everyone is as changing as the sand under waves
like Johann.
"I enjoy many of the benefits of being a vampire," he admits as he curls up closer, "but I also hate that I cannot choose when I want to sleep and that sunlight is a constant danger. It's irritating."
He lets his head rest on Johann's chest.
"I've been given an alternative option: the chance to be immortal purely through my magecraft. And you well know that I can provide most of the other advantages this form offers through the same. So it feels like a better option."
"It's risky," he points out, "but I'll be doing it on the Barge." A breath out. "So if that doesn't work, I'll have to go with Xie Lian's method."
He smiles a little at Johann using his magic so easily.
"Which I trust. I just... thought I ought to talk to you about it." A pause. "Also-"
Which is when he's going to turn his head and bite into Johann's throat. Because if this is the only time he's going to get to drink his blood, he wants to have that at least once.
He might be a vampire, but that vampire was made from Florian Leickenbloom, whos blood ran as black as the Crescent, who had roots as deep as anything grows in Norden. If there was anything that could drink Johann's blood, it would be him. And if any blood was made for him, it would be Johann's.
Johann will feel the feral little pinpricks of nails in his skin, Florian digging in, intending very much to drink his fill. This is his and he wants every glorious drop.
...it's been too long since he killed Johann, really. And this time, he knows, will be one of the more lovely ones.
His fingers are the first to grow numb and he feels himself sinking back
into the pillows, feeling himself becoming part of them instead of
something different and distant. The world grays out and he closes his
eyes, lazy and clumsy arms wrapped around him, keeping him close and warm
against him. Everything is cold, but Florian is nothing but warmth to him
here. Warmth and pleasant weight and he feels like he falls with his love
in his arms.
"Next time," he mutters, words slurring. "Do this while I fuck you."
He stops drinking the moment before Johann dies, remembering Lestat's warning. His dainty little fangs put away, he leans up and kisses his forehead, then his nose, and finally his lips.
Then he smiles.
No, no he will do it as he likes. Maybe then.
Maybe not. Johann will have to see.
But he will curl up against Johann happily while he waits for him to revive.
It doesn't take long for life to return, but the restoration of the color
in his skin takes a bit longer. He hums and turns, wrapping him up with
lazy movements. "Mmm, that was amazing."

Re: Homecoming pt 1

"Fuck..." he breathes and his hands go in his hair again, careful to not pull too hard. "That shit's bad for you..."
Not that he knows if it is or not.
